This is one of four vessels that contain food and drink offered to the deities in a ceremony known as the serkjem or 'golden offering'. The ewer is filled with tea or beer and the container with grain. The two are then transferred to the other vessels while prayers are recited.

EL ARTE DE ALFREDO VIVERO

Alfredo Vivero. Nació en 1951 en Corozal (Sucre), Colombia. Estudió arquitectura en la Universidad la Gran Colombia. Recibió la Orden Civil al Mérito José Acevedo y Gómez (2004), y fue condecorado en 1991 por Colcultura con la orden Mariscal Sucre. Ha realizado portadas para varias revistas y calendarios.En el año 2004 expuso en Latin American Artist Studio bajo el título Magia, mito y leyenda, en San Diego, California, muestra que anteriormente presentó en Bogotá, Ibagué, Sincelejo y Miami (Contemporary Art Foundation Gallery). Ha realizado las exposiciones: Ficciones (1986), Laberintos del silencio (1983), Resurrección del mito (1982), Canción de la vida total (1981), Sueños (1980). En 1996 fue seleccionado por Adpostal para edición de cuatro estampillas con la serie Mitos y Leyendas de Colombia. Ha realizado los murales: Visa deportiva (Parque Jhon F. Kenedy, Bogotá, 1984); Schin-Ghui-Tai (Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá, 1982); El hombre nuevo (Catedral de Corozal, 1981); El testigo (Círculo de Periodistas, Bogotá, 1981)
